The Van division of Mercedes is expanding the range of Marco Polo models with the new Horizon. The compact campus bus will be premiering with up to five sleeping possibilities at the holiday fair CMT in Stuttgart 2017.

Up to now there was the Marco Polo in its standard configuration with kitchen line, wardrobe and roof bed as well as the second variant Activity. In 2017, Mercedes expands the family of compact campus buses around the Marco Polo Horizon. The new model based on the V-Class debuts at the CMT Stuttgart.

“The new compact recreational vehicle is aimed at trend-conscious adventurers who want a flexible and functional vehicle for short breaks and outdoor activities, but at the same time do not want to forgo a stylish appearance,” describes Mercedes Marco Polo Horizon. The manufacturer particularly emphasizes the design possibilities in the interior.

The range extends from the standard five-seater to seven seats and five sleeping places. As a five-seater, the Marco Polo Horizon comes with rotating front seats and a three-seat / reclining bench. Another option is four individual comfort seats in the rear. Or the configuration 2 + 2 + 3 with two single seats in the first back row and a three-seater / liebank behind it. The roof bed, which is a load of up to 200 kilograms digested and made for two people, measures 2.05 by 1.13 meters. Depending on the seat configuration, the bench in the rear can be converted into a sleeping area of ​​1.93 by 1.35 meters for a maximum of three persons.

The cockpit can be finished with wood, piano lacquer or in wave optics. A wide range of special designs, such as an interior package with leather Lugano or the AMG line, should serve different tastes. The diesel engines from the V-Class drive the Marco Polo Horizon.

In basic guise, the Marco Polo Horizon uses the in-line four-cylinder engine with 2.143 cm³ displacement, 135 hp and 330 Nm (200 d). Above that sits the 163 hp strong diesel, which mobilizes 380 Nm. Top diesel is the 250 d with 190 hp and 440 Nm. As an alternative to the rear-wheel drive, the Marco Polo Horizon also raises its performance on all four wheels – each in conjunction with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The Marco Polo Horizon, which has with the retracted roof a height of under two meters, can be ordered from 52.051 Euro including VAT (Germany).
