Andres Uibomäe of Estonia’s Renard Speed Shop has been called one of the best custom bike builders in Europe and his new project just keeps that reputation going. His rather unique take on this BMW R90/6 Café Racer leaves it powerful and bespoken to no particular era of bike. He started off, of course, by stripping the otherwise good donor bike down. By slimming down the subframe, he made room to fit a narrowed tank from a Moto Guzzi V7 Special. Several inches were taken from the forks and the CZ motocrosser rear shocks were stretched to fit. For stopping power he completely redid the braking system, removing the drum brakes and finding ways to replace it with disc brakes. The engine was completely rebuilt from rings to seals and gaskets. Even the original airbox was fitted with two velocity stack-style intakes. Uibomäe has never used Firestone tires before, but the customer insisted and he feels that when he gets to test it he will find they perform just as well as the rest of this sleek café racer.
